Driving Success: Leadership Principles for Building the Right Team

This webinar originally occurred on March 11, 2025
Duration: 30 minutes

Overview

Effective leadership isn’t just about setting the vision—it’s about having the right people to execute it. Hire strategically, align intentionally, and lead with accountability to build a high-performing team. The best leaders empower their teams, ensuring every individual contributes to the collective success. In this presentation, we will explore several important concepts such as:

  • Hiring for Values, Culture and Potential: Getting the right folks on the bus. This concept considers why attitude, adaptability, and alignment matters more than just expertise. This presentation discusses hiring for future leadership, not just immediate tasks, and the crucial impact of onboarding new employees.
  • Aligning Strengths to Roles: Getting folks in the right seats on the bus. This concept entails establishing trust with staff and leadership in order to identify strengths and match people with roles that maximize their talents. Dangers arise when roles are in misalignment – often causing good employees to underperform due to poor role fit. This can be countered through mentorship, training, and role refinement in order to optimize team efficiency.
  • Creating a Culture of Accountability and Engagement: Make sure the bus is heading in the right direction. This concept looks at the impact of trust, communication, definitions, and shared purpose. Fostering a culture of ownership and empowerment benefits from setting clear expectations, encouraging feedback loops, performance discussions, and professional development.
  • Negative Impacts of Misalignment: The Cost of Keeping the Wrong People on the Bus and Making sure the bus isn’t going off a cliff!” This concept explores how poor alignment erodes employee morale, productivity, innovation, and growth.

Whether you’re building a new team or refining an existing one, these insights will provide practical takeaways for identifying talent, cultivating high-performing teams that drive success, and aligning team strengths with organizational goals.
