Making a Forensic Scientist: A Recipe for Success

Overview

This webinar will discuss the challenges facing forensic science today and provide advice for entry-level practitioners on skills needed to succeed as a forensic scientist.

National Forensic Science Week recognizes the contribution that forensic science makes to the criminal justice system. Throughout the week, the Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCOE) will be engaging with the community and the target audience this year will be early-career scientists. This online session features a live panel of forensic-decision makers that will discuss the challenges facing forensic science today and advice for entry-level practitioners on skills needed to succeed as a forensic scientist.

Dr. John Morgan, the FTCOE Director at RTI International, will provide an overview of emerging topics and challenges facing the forensic science field today. Additionally, a panel of hiring decision makers will discuss tips for success, including what they look for in new-hires, traits of individuals that have succeeded in their organizations, and what hard and soft skills impact professional performance.
